Too much credit can not be given Mr Webster for his zeal and un- tiring labor often under stress for lack of funds in his efforts to save from oblivion much of the Indian his- tory in this region. He is also the author of a work entitled History of Floyd County, loiva, published by the Charles City Intelligencer in 1897. It is a valuable contribution, as a history of the ever defeated Indian tribes in their steady march to extinction; and is also an important history of the early settlement of this region of the country by the white race. We have gathered in Floyd County considerable data pertaining to the history of the early pioneers, as well as to the prehistoric Indians and Mound Builders of Iowa and the Mississippi Valley. We have secured a large fund of information along these lines of inestimable value ma- terial which otherwise would have been mainly lost which we hope will aid, in a modest way, in determining the facts as to who the Mound Builders were. prev     next
